More than 200 vineyards in the UK welcome visitors - who knew?

The answer is almost no-one until we built this website.

While there are a few sources of useful technical information on topics such as acreage and grape varieties grown, we are the first to provide information of true relevance to visitors – not just opening times, but whether there is a restaurant and whether children are welcomed, for instance.

From a simple marquee in a field where you talk with the owner who looks after the vineyard himself or herself, to a fancy restaurant overlooking the vines, it’s all out there. Whether you want to try the wine from your local vineyard, buy a few cases for your daughter’s wedding or enjoy a weekend away in a shepherd’s hut or boutique hotel overlooking a vineyard, we can help you find the perfect place.

We’re Elisabeth & Ian – friends who met while working in the tourism industry, who both love English wine.

Initial tastings and visits to English & Welsh vineyards led to a blog, but we soon realised how difficult it was to find which vineyards are visitor-friendly. With no good resource available, new vineyards opening so frequently that internet is the only viable medium and with our experience in tourism technology and ecommerce, we decided that we were ideally placed to create that resource ourselves.

The initial website was Highly Commended in the Drinks International Wine Tourism Awards 2015 (runner-up to Stellenbosch) and Highly Commended in the Good Web Guide 2015.

Several years later the website has undergone a major rebuild, the blog been integrated and around 2/3 of the vineyards have been visited personally, with more being added most weekends!

We now take premium listings from wine producers who like what we’re doing and from strictly vetted businesses that we think will appeal to you, our audience. We also give premium listings to charity vineyards as we like to support their great work, usually in the field of community support, disability projects or mental health. Vineyards with premium listings will come top in searches, have the benefit of showing more information and will receive greater promotion. Our approach to accuracy of description is exactly the same for all listings, however.

Enough about us, though, this website is all about you. Where you can find and maybe join in the work of your local vineyard, great ideas for weekends away where you can stay overlooking a vineyard and so much more.

Where to start? Well firstly, check the map and find out a bit more about your local vineyards. Sign up to our mailing list for information and ideas. We’ll keep you up to date with fun things going on, new vineyards opening and more.
