Bolney Estate is one of the best examples of an English vineyard that has created a pleasant visitor experience without compromising their excellent reputation as a winemaker. The wines are widely respected and the whole atmosphere is one of understated quality.
Eighteen Acre Café
The large café and cellar door shop sits above the warehouse and with a wide balcony almost overhanging the vines, it is one of the very best places to enjoy a glass of English wine with a bite to eat. It even serves as a wine bar on selected evenings.
Cellar Door Shop
The shop sells the full range of wines and spirits with a few additional gift items; there are usually a few products available for taste.
A wide variety of tour options and packages provide ways to explore, learn about winemaking or enjoy food and wine pairing; tour vouchers make for excellent gifts, too.
Bolney Estate is just off the A272, very close to the A23 about 14 miles north of Brighton. It is the vineyard formerly known as Bookers.
Bolney Wine Estate is located 10 miles south of Crawley on the A23. Leave the A23 signposted for Ansty and Cowfold and take the third exit off the roundabout onto the A272, signposted to Billingshurst and Petersfield. Please do not take the Bolney Village exit.
If travelling north from Brighton, approximately 14 miles, take the Petersfield/Haywards Heath turn off. Take the first exit off the roundabout signposted to Cowfold. Turn right onto the A272 at Cowfold Road.
You will pass a signpost for Bolney Village on your right, and shortly afterwards there is a petrol station on the left hand side. Foxhole Lane is the next turning on the right. Bolney Wine Estate is approximately half a mile from the turning on the left hand side, and is the second of the two driveways.
The nearest mainline train stations are Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill both about 15 minutes by taxi)
Both are about 15 minutes by taxi or bus 89 is operated by Compass Travel and runs between Horsham & Haywards Heath, passing through Bolney village.
You may also find East Sussex County Council’s interactive bus map useful if you need to travel to/from the eastern half of Sussex.
Why not visit this vineyard with your own friends or family and without worrying about who does the driving?
