Warden Abbey Vineyard is a unique community and educational resource on the site of a medieval vineyard tended by monks at the Cistercian Abbey of Warden. They aim to provide social, health and educational benefits for Bedfordshire while making high-quality wines. The vineyard is lovingly cared for all year round by local people giving their time to the project.

The vineyard is tucked away among country lanes, a patchwork of fields and tiny villages, in earshot of church bells and vintage aircraft from the nearby Shuttleworth Collection.

Remains of the Cistercian abbey to which it belonged are incorporated into a charming house dating from 1560 and which is now a Landmark Trust holiday property sleeping 5.

The vineyard was replanted in 1986 and in 2010 the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity leased the 5 acre site as a community venture.

Sign up to the Warden Abbey mailing list if you would like to join their volunteers or donate now.
