New Restaurant "Marianne" to feature English sparkling wines
A new restaurant, Marianne, is due to open at 104 Chepstow Road, Notting Hill in September 2013. Marianne Lumb was a finalist in 2009’s Masterchef: The Professionals and is planning a small restaurant with only 14 covers.
We read that the menu is to comprise a seasonally changing offering with daily fish, meat and vegetarian options alongside favourites such as “the best fishcakes and shepherd’s pie ever”. A short wine list is planned to include sparkling British wine alongside fine champagnes.
We hope she means wines grown and made in England & Wales wines (the term “British wine” can include any imported wine blended here) and also that she doesn’t miss out on any of the fabulous still wines this country now offers. Happy to provide some tips if required…
Good luck, Marianne! We hope it goes well for you.
Time Out this week printed a review of Marianne calling it “a micro restaurant, complete with a maître d’ / sommelier, a limited but thoughtful wine collection and one extremely nice loo”. They declared her cooking “wonderful… classical, fine-dining fare with a light feminine touch”.
Restaurant Marianne is now permanently closed.
