Llanerch is a hotel, wedding venue and cookery school near Cardiff with its very own vineyard. Visit for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea, or why not stay over?

A CHANCE DISCOVERY

When owner Ryan Davies was doing agricultural work as a young man in Australia and New Zealand, little did he think he would one day own his own vineyard. Some years later, when looking for land for an adventure sports business, he came across Llanerch and recognised a great opportunity. In the years that have followed, he’s rolled up his sleeves and worked hard to deliver a comprehensive visitor offering and some of those ideas of the Margaret River and Marlborough are clearly evident.

A RURAL IDYLL THAT’S SURPRISINGLY ACCESSIBLE

With its woodland walk and extensive vineyards you feel like you’re in the depths of countryside, while just being 45 minutes or so from Bristol and only a couple of miles off the M4, just past Cardiff.

There’s a cosy bar and two dining areas; one of which overlooks the vineyard and is used for breakfast and afternoon tea. The adjacent Calon Lodge provides a bright modern function room that’s beautifully appointed and overlooks its own part of the vineyard. The Angela Gray Cookery School provides a programme of relaxed and informal cookery courses available to locals and visitors alike.

A GROWING CONCERN

Work is continuously underway to grow and improve the offering at Llanerch; there are more rooms and more vine plantings in the plan; while the vineyards look beautiful, the awards for the still and sparkling wines demonstrate that they are not just for show.
