Whirlow Hall Farm Trust is a Sheffield-based educational charity based on a 138 acre working farm. It runs programmes for children who struggle in mainstream education – because of learning, behavioural, emotional, or mental health issues.
The Trust’s mission is to help youngsters with extraordinary challenges make the most of their potential.
Vines and Wines
Their ‘Werlot’ vineyard, sponsored by Sheffield-based Gripple and an active Wine Club membership, was planted in 2010 with a mixture of red, white and rosé grapes. After several successful vintages (albeit tempered by a testing Yorkshire climate), in 2018 Whirlow Hall produced its first sparkling wine.
The Vineyard in Context
The Vineyard is part of the diverse farm operation at Whirlow Hall that provides produce to the on-site butchery, shop and café.
For a limited number of weekends each year, the trust hire out their Hall and Barn for wedding celebrations. If you are looking for somewhere a bit out-of-the-ordinary, where between 20 and 300 guests can enjoy themselves, then they might well be the place for you. And as well as having the best day of your life, you’ll be helping to fund the educational programmes that help so many disadvantaged youngsters from the region.
A birthday party on a farm – what a great idea! Wear your wellies and have a day you’ll never forget! As well as having plenty of indoor fun and games, you’ll be able to meet the animals and experience life on the Farm. Everyone wants something different so contact Whirlow Hall Farm Trust directly to discuss what you’re after.
